Overflow ADSL2+ Rates
We are currently working
on our new rates. We are excited to be the
first isp in the area to offer our customers faster
speed via the ADSL2+ Network. Speed on ADSL2+ is
dependant upon your distance from the exchange and
the quality of the copper in the ground We can
also offer OPTUS Adsl2+ and Powertel ADSL2+ in other
exchanges.

Notes:
-
The maximum possible speed of your ADSL2+ service
will depend on a number of factors. Some of these -
such as the length and quality of the copper wire
from your place to the local exchange - are outside
of your control. From our experience, 10% of
customers get sync speeds of >=20MBps, 30% of
customer get sync speeds of <20MBps but >15MBps,30%
of customers get sync speeds of <15 but >10Mbps, 20%
get sync speeds of <10Mbps but >5Mbps and the
remaining 10% get lower then 5Mbps
Approximate Guide (Distance / Speed)
1.0km = 13.81dB = 23Mbit
1.5km = 20.7dB = 21Mbit
2.0km = 27.6dB = 18Mbit
2.5km = 34.5dB = 13Mbit
3.0km = 41.4dB = 8Mbit
3.5km = 48.3dB = 6Mbit
4.0km = 56dB = 4Mbit
4.5km = 62.1dB = 3Mbit
5.0km = 69dB = 2Mbit

This is the plan's monthly quota measured in
Megabytes. For charging purposes, Overflow considers
1 Megabyte to be made from 1000 Kilobytes. See tips
and terms below.
-
Stated is the plan's monthly price, and is only an
indication of the charge for ongoing provision of
the service. It does not include
installation/termination/modification and/or
hardware fees, any fees for calls or any fee charged
through late payment of account, any add-on options
provided nor excess usage fees should the plan
include them.
-
All plans have a data limit at which your connection
will be shaped, that is, your download speed lowered
to 64Kbps for the remainder of your billing month.
Once your quota rolls over you will be unshaped back
to full speed.
-
For your broadband service with us to function, it
is a business requirement of our carrier that you
maintain a telephone service in good accounting and
working order. If your telephone service is
disconnected for any reason, we may get charged with
a fee to reconnect you, and we'll pass that charge
along to you. Two of the most well-known ways of
making this happen are: (a) Changing the "lessee"
(person named on the bill) of your telephone
service, and (b) Not paying your phone bill.
-
As noted in the section for start-up costs, Overflow
ADSL2+ broadband services carry a commitment term
of 12 months (we do offer 6 and 0 month
contracts upon request) and services are delivered
on a month-by-month contract. Each time you're
billed for a month, you are contracted to serve (and
pay) for that month, which isn't refundable. That's
all there is to it. We don't have any clever minimum
cost calculators, but simply it is $120 for a 12
month connection and $75 for a 6 month connection
-
Just quickly, a word of advice from Overflow for
accessing certain interactive services such as
online games and streaming media. Choose a 512/128
(preferable a 1500/256 or faster) package, as 256/64
is just a little too sluggish for these sorts of
things to run as they were intended. It wouldn't be
pretty. For VoIP we recommend ADSL2+ or a 1500 to
accommodate voice quality.
-
Where stated Monthly Cost as part of a VoIP Bundle
means that this is the cost of the ADSL / ADSL2+
component of the plan. The price stated does not
include the phone line, DID or calls. If you cancel
the attached VoIP plan, then you will be charged the
normal price for the plan.
All ADSL plans include
-
5 Email accounts
-
20mb Web space
Payment Options
This method of payment is the easiest way to settle your
account is by automatic debit from a credit card. You
provide to us a signed authorisation form stating that
we can directly debit either a credit card each month on
the due date for the invoice in question (generally 7
days after issue). Overflow is very careful with your
payment details and will not divulge them to any third
party.

FAQ
What is Broaband ADSL?
ADSL is simply a way of using frequencies that don't get
used for telephone calls to push really fast internet
access down the line from our equipment to your
computer. Because ADSL doesn't use the same part
of the phone line as your telephone does, you can be
online and talk on the phone, send faxes - all at the
same time! Overflow have a
range of plans created especially for the home user and
a full set of plans for the small business and corporate
user
What is an ADSL LINE FILTER
A line filter effectively filters the frequencies on the
line and prevents the the voice frequencies from
interfering with the frequencies used by data and vice
versa.Each and every device must have a filter installed
between it and the phone line, however the recommended
maximum number of such filters is three. Any more than
that and they can do more hindering than helping by
degrading the quality of your line. If you require more
than three line filters, the alternative is not install
any filters at all but instead to have an ADSL central
splitter installed. An ADSL central splitter must be
installed by a qualified technician (your local
electrician should be able to help you) and generally
sits at the point where your phone line enters your
house or office before it splits off to the various
phone plugs in different rooms.
What is Shaping
The residential series of plans are "s haped"
to 64k once you reach the download limit noted in the
table - this way you don't need to worry about fees in
excess of your monthly charge, for a simpler life.
